Frequently Asked Questions

Welcoming a newborn into the world is a life-changing experience.

Capturing the essence of love and vulnerability in these moments is most important and is where my services come in. In the first two weeks of their life, your newborn is still adjusting to the world and learning day from night. This time is the best time to have your professional photos taken. In these first 14 days, your baby is most comfortable and therefore able to be moulded and positioned into curled up poses. They will also be very sleepy which is absolute key to achieving these beautiful photos.

It is best to make a tentative booking date ahead of time and once the baby is born, if needed, a more appropriate date can be organised. This is also the perfect time to capture your whole family together. My packages allow for additional add-ons where family or siblings can be included in these images. The first part of the session will capture your family and their excitement towards your new baby. The second part of the session will be all about your newborn.

Professional newborn photography sessions can take up to 3 hours. In the case that they get unsettled, having more time allows for feeding and relaxing the baby in order to achieve those perfect shots.

  • Newborns are easiest to pose from birth up to 14 days old, however with some babies, it is still possible up to 21 days. The first two weeks is when your baby is most mouldable; they can be curled and bundled to achieve those precious heart warming images.

  • The goal is to have your baby in a deep sleep during the session. You should aim to keep your little one awake at least 1-2 hours before the session to tire them out. Closer to the session time I would suggest feeding your baby to encourage them to fall into a deep sleep. Avoid putting your baby in any tight clothing to allow for easy undressing once the session begins. The room/studio space will be kept warm enough to keep the baby comfortable and cozy.

  • Not to worry! Your session date will be booked according to your due date. If this does change there is flexibility to move your session to a more suitable date.

  • Newborn sessions can take up to 2-3 hours with enough time for feeding and settling in between if needed.

  • Newborn sessions take place either in my studio space or in your home. I do offer a mobile service to those who prefer it, as long as there is a clear 3.5x3.5m space for me to work within.

  • This is completely natural and part of the process! If baby is awake, I try to get some awake images however I will then aim to get them back into a deep sleep. Having your baby in a deep sleep is necessary to achieve unwrapped, naked or semi-naked poses. In the case that your baby is crying and can’t be settled with techniques that usually work, rescheduling the session will be discussed.
